Tony was our neighbor, the father of our son’s friend and a brilliant surgeon. I often heard women say he saved their lives. His invention the McCartney tube has saved much pain and distress for women requiring specific surgeries. The world is better for his being here and poorer for his passing. He will be missed, RIP.
Prof McCartney was not just a wonderful doctor but also the most sympathetic and wonderful friend to his patients. I was his patient for many years and he always did his very best for me. A truly great man has passed and he will be sorely missed. R.I.P.
Today I heard the very sad news of Tony’s passing. I worked as a nurse on both his KEMH and St John of God wards, and later became a patient of his, for a short time. He was quite simply, the best. A warm, friendly, intelligent, gentle giant, who has left an even greater legacy, and so many lovely memories to so many people from all walks of life. He will be greatly missed, however, so very fondly remembered.
